MLB DFS Top Pitchers and Stacks

Yesterday was one of, if not the lowest scoring day we've seen this season with a lot of chalk busts. Luckily we were able to grab the Giants stack for stupid low ownership and lo and behold they put up the most runs on the slate. Great. Onto today. The weather is pretty gross in a lot of ballparks today, so much so that I am going to ignore it completely. There are lots of weather experts out there you can go get their takes on whether or not games will play, personally I will be waiting till closer to lock to update the Jewels if any of the situations look like the games wont play. There could be a lot of changes to the Jewels today, not just the offensive positional rankings but also the pitchers, recommended stacks, etc etc etc so be sure to check back before lock because I will be able to update them today despite the fact I wasnt able to yesterday.

    Top Pitchers

Zack Greinke ($9500 FanDuel, $11800 DraftKings)
Diamondbacks are -170 favourites tonight up against the Brewers who could be without Ryan Braun again tonight. Plus matchup for Greinke here tonight against a team with a 24% K rate against RHP. Greinke himself has a 27% K rate with just a 3.1% walk rate and a 12.8% SwStr% He has given up a lot of hard contact/fly balls at home but his HR/9 at Chase this season is just 0.86 while holding opponents to a .239 wOBA. Overall I think hes one of the safer options on the slate because of al the other weather concerns around the league so he could end up being popular if we don't end up getting confirmation on weather in other ballparks.

Jhoulys Chacin ($6100 FanDuel, $5200 DraftKings)
From targeting against Chacin to actually considering playing him, baseball is amazing… Arizona just lost their gold glove All Star center fielder AJ Pollock who will probably not be playing tonight after exiting last nights game with an injury. Furthermore the Diamondbacks are striking out 27.1% of the time at home against righties with a wOBA of just .261. Chacins price on DraftKings is just too low to ignore as a P2 option, if you want to go with Anthony Banda thats viable too but with all the weather concerns right now my scope is limited down to those 2 so pick your poison.

Other P options: Noah Syndergaard, Eduardo Rodriguez, Mike Leake

    Top Stacks

    Philadelphia Phillies
The Phils are in Baltimore tonight taking on the Orioles and Andrew Cashner at hitter friendly Camden Yards. Cashner has been awful this season at home with an HR/9 that sits at 2.08 and opponents wOBA at .362. Not much strikeout stuff at home and generates a lot of walks, 10.7% walk rate paired with the Phils 10.4% walk rate against righties will just add to their ability to get on base be it via a walk or hit. Odubel Herrera has some good BvP against Cashner going 6 for 14 career with 2 HR’s. The other batters will be the usual members of a Phillies stack, Cesar Hernandez, Rhys Hoskins, Aaron Altherr, and Carlos Santana.

    Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox are coming into tonight with the highest implied run total on the slate at 5.9 implied runs facing Daniel Mengden in hitter friendly Fenway Park which currently ranks at the #2 park in park factor, this likely has something to do with the fact every game thats played there has one of the best offensive teams in the league involved. The Red Sox have a .350 wOBA against RHP which is tops in the MLB and Mengden himself has some pretty major reverse splits against righties so the first batter we are going to lock into this stack is JD Martinez who has a .451 wOBA and a .348 ISO against RHP. Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez, and Xander Boegarts would be the supporting cast to consider.

    Detroit Tigers
Hard not to target against Josh Tomlin so we’re doing it again tonight with the Tigers at Comerica Park. Josh Tomlin has struck out 14 batters so far this season in 25.2 IP, in that span he has given up 13 HR’s so to say he's a gascan is a bit of an understatement. .514 wOBA against lefties, .422 against righties so he’s not exactly having success against either side of the plate here. The Tigers don't have many lefties but switch hitting Niko Goodrum has hit 3 of his 4 HR’s from the left side of the plate so he’s likely the first guy people are going to lock into a stack with his recent form. Otherwise I like a stack with the bottom of the order here for cheap like Jones, Goodrum and Iglesias but will be interesting to see what lineup the Tigers trot out tonight.

Other stack options: Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians
